I met Daisy Dust in Made by Mary jewelry’s Facebook group. We connected due to us both being originally from Utah and recently moved to Colorado for our husband’s careers. We started talking on a post chat, and then more in-depth to get to know one another! Daisy is sweet and kind, gentle in word and demeanor. We connected on our love of family, camping, spending time outdoors, and we even have a mutual friend from Utah (truly we do live in a small world)!
Daisy and Drew grew up in Roy, Utah and their families still reside there! Once Drew went to power line school in Idaho, and once finished they moved to Colorado, St. George, Texas, close to Kansas and now back to Colorado! Once he is finished here in Colorado, they would like settle down and make Utah their permanent home. Staying close to family is extremely important to them. I was a witness to that when Drew’s sweet mom Lynda and his young cousin came to help us at the session before taking the 8+ hr drive back to Utah.

When we set up our session we initially scheduled it for evening! As I scouted Standely Lake in Arvada, Colorado it seemed beautiful but it was HOT and BRIGHT. I specialize in people centered photography. This means that no matter how beautiful the surrounding location I, my first priority is light and ensuring my people look their absolute best!! After lots of scouting and discussing with Daisy, I asked if they would be willing to get up realllll early (5am) to meet for a sunrise session at 6am! With Gracen’s bed time being around 7:30pm, the hot weather, and getting much better lighting at that time they were more than willing!
I'm not kidding when I say that at each and every session that I have with my clients, I feel so much of God's blessings in the session. This time in particular, the weather was forecasted to be very bright even at 6am. When I woke up it was pitch Black; NO stars in sight due to complete overcast. I was a tad worried, due to the location having epic mountain views! BUT this beautiful even light allows me to focus on what I do best; capturing relationships, personalities and everything in between! There are a lot of places that you can take photos that are naturesque like parks, trails, lakes and things of that nature (haaa pun not intended), but Standley Lake is one that I will keep in the back of my pocket.

Baby Gracen truly is full of joyous light. She has so much sweetness in her just like Daisy. She loved spending time with family and getting a lot of attention from Oma & Drew’s cousin! The perfect description for Gracen would be the following; a little delicate (yet independent) flower; beautiful and so sweet…You just can't help but want to hold, admire and give love to her!
Drew and Daisy are two of the kindest people; their relationship together is pure and caring; they have such giving hearts full of genuineness. They will always have true and cherished love together.
I am so grateful that they were flexible, and gracious to schedule changes. I can't wait to follow along and cheer them on in all aspects of life.
